“
Oh,
Holy Spirit, Soul of my soul, I adore You.
Light
me up, guide me, fortify me, comfort me.
Tell
me what I have to do, let me know what You want from me.
I
promise to submit myself to what You want from me
and
to accept all that You allow to happen to me.
To
know Your will is enough for me”

JOYFUL MISTERY
The
Annunciation:
the
Angel Gabriel says to Mary that She is going to be the Mother of
Jesus.
For
the first time, only to Mary it is revealed the mystery of love of
the Holy Trinity. The Archangel Gabriel reveals to the Virgin the
existence in God, the Father, of His Son Jesus and that of the Holy
Spirit. The words pronounced by the prophet Isaiah more than 700
years earlier will be coming true: “The
virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call
him Immanuel”.
There
comes the “salvation”, the Gates of Heaven are reopened, not
the earthly Heaven anymore, but the heavenly one, for all
eternity.
With
the Announcement of the future Incarnation of Jesus, God does
not impose His wish to save the whole of humanity, but He rather
makes it depend on Mary’s assent: “Behold,
the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to Your word."
And
after that everything changed in human history.
Thank
you Mary
2nd JOYFUL MISTERY
The
Visitation: Mary visits Her cousin Elizabeth to tell her how happy
She is that she is going to have a baby.
Mary
is pregnant and learns by the Angel of Her cousin Elizabeth, already
quite old, that she is going to have a baby too. She is not
frightened at all by the 150 Kilometres that She will have to
cover to make a great act of charity.
The
dialogue between the two mothers is really beautiful, as well as the
other one, silent and hidden, between the two Sons who are still in
their mother’s wombs. John the Baptist rejoices as soon as He
listens to Mary’s greeting to Elizabeth.
A
real hymn to joy, to God’s mercy completes this mystery: it is the
MAGNIFICAT
which gets all of us involved and opens us to the hope
for life in Christ.
Thank
you Mary full of joy
3rd JOYFUL MYSTERY
After
a second journey, as long as the previous one, to meet a civil law,
the census, Mary gives birth to Her Son. It is announced by
Luke- using an only verse- a second Big Bang, a new creation
that will change the whole human history.
Everything
occurs in a place that will soon become famous, as the prophet
Micheas (5:1) said: “And
thou Bethlehem art a little one among the thousands of Juda”
Not
only: Jesus comes into the world in a cave of shepherds and not, as
King of all Kings, in a royal palace, but in the arms of a very sweet
Mother a little bit more than a teenager.
Along
with Her and Her love there is Joseph’s love.
In
Bethlehem, that means “house of bread”, Jesus is
being placed in a manger, to be eaten, after the Institution of The
Eucharist, by all believing souls.
Thank
you Mary, Thank you Jesus
4th JOYFUL MYSTERY
Still
in order to meet the law, (this time Moses’ religious law), the
Parents take the Child Jesus to the Temple to offer Him to God.
It
is not quoted any of their words, but those words spoken in the
Temple by Simeon, “an
upright
and
devout man”
are very meaningful; Simeon, inspired by the Holy Spirit, takes the
Child in his arms……a bit something like we do when we receive Him
in the Eucharistic Communion.
Simeon’s
prophecy (2:34) is illuminating and terrible at the same time: “He
is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel” and
he says to Mary(2:35): “a
sword
will
pierce your soul”.
After
him, also the prophetess Anna “gave
thanks to the Lord,
and
spoke of Him to all those
who
looked for redemption in Jerusalem.”
Thank
you Mary and Thank you Joseph
5th JOYFUL MYSTERY
Jesus
is only 12 years old and for the first time He takes part in the
Jewish Feast of Easter in Jerusalem with Mary and Joseph.
Owing
to a misunderstanding, on the day of their return to Nazareth,
after a day of travel, Mary and Joseph realize that Jesus is
missing.
In
the convoy, frequently men walked among men, separated from both
women and children could choose whichever group to stay in.
Mary’s
and Joseph’s anguish is big.
They
have been travelling for a whole day.
A
second day goes by on their way back to Jerusalem.
They
find Him only on the third day, and they are really full of joy, in
the Temple.
“Behold,
Your
father and I have been searching for You in great
distress.”. Jesus replied: “Why were you looking for me?”
He asked. “Didn’t you know
that
I
must be
about
My Father’s business?”
But they did not understand what He was saying to them.”
Jesus
affirms very explicitly for the first time that God is His Father and
will talk about it on thousand occasions revealing His face, His
mercy, His Love.
This
finding in the Temple is a joyful mystery, but it is
preceded by a lot of both concern and anguish……..the sword
prophesised by Simeon
starts to pierce Mary’s life and soul.
Thank
you Mary, Thank you Jesus
